Volunteer Centres
Volunteer centers play the role of informational and contact point for those who want to become volunteers and for organizations that look for help of volunteers.
The purpose of volunteer centers is to support organizations that work with volunteers. It includes mainly enrolment, training and supervision of volunteers, training and supervision of coordinators of volunteers, supervision of organizations involved with volunteers, special publications producing, seminars organizing and consulting services providing. These centers also provide PR of volunteer organizations and update the database of both volunteers and organizations that cooperate. The important part of volunteer centers work is to support cooperation with international volunteer organizations in order to exchange ideas and experience and to learn about volunteering in other countries.
The civic association Hestia - National Volunteer Centre covers the above mentioned field and plays the umbrella organization role. It has focused in volunteer management through its programs since 1993.
Recent experience confirms that the activity of volunteer centers in specific regions as centers of methodical help for volunteering is important for expansion of activities not only in non-governmental, non-profit organizations but also in other programs that are supported by the community.
